How to Look Good on a Video Job Interview: 5 Tips job seekers need to know

5 Tips you need to know to stand out in your next video job interview

In the current job market, more and more employers are conducting job interviews via video conferencing platforms like Zoom and Skype. While this may save time and money for both parties, it can present some unique challenges for job seekers. After all, when you’re used to in-person meetings, it’s not always easy to adjust to being on camera. If you’re worried about how you’ll look on your next video job interview, never fear! Here are five tips to help you look your best.

1. Dress the part: Just because you’re meeting virtually doesn’t mean you should dress any differently than you would for an in-person interview. First impressions are important, so make sure you’re wearing professional attire that is appropriate for the job you’re applying for.

2. Choose a quiet location: One of the benefits of video interviews is that you can conduct them from practically anywhere. However, that doesn’t mean you should take advantage of that flexibility by conducting your interview from a noisy or distracting location. Find a quiet spot in your home where you won’t be interrupted or distracted, and make sure there’s minimal background noise.

3. Make eye contact:
It can be easy to get distracted when you’re looking at yourself on screen, but it’s important to remember to make eye contact with your interviewer just as you would in an in-person meeting. This shows that you’re engaged and interested in what they have to say.

4.Sit up straight: Unfortunately, poor posture can be magnified on video, so it’s important to sit up straight and maintain good posture throughout your interview. Not only will this help you look more professional, but it will also help ensure that your voice comes across clearly.

5. Relax and be yourself: Just like with any other interview, it’s important to relax and be yourself. The best way to do this is by thinking of your interviewer as a person rather than a screen. Imagine that you’re having a conversation with them in person, and let your genuine personality shine through!

With more employers conducting job interviews via video conferencing platforms, it’s important for job seekers to know how to put their best foot forward on camera. By following these five simple tips—dressing the part, choosing a quiet location, making eye contact, sitting up straight, and relaxing—you’ll be sure to make a great impression on your next video job interview!
